EU to announce winners of 2021 SGBV video competition March 9
Global News Update
THE Delegation of the European Union to Nigeria and ECOWAS says it will announce the winner of a short video competition on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) on March 9.
The objective of the competition is to stimulate the awareness of Nigerians on issues of gender-based violence as a means of eliminating its prevalence in society.
It will also ensure that the voices of young people are heard and taken into consideration when shaping and implementing programs and policies in Nigeria.
The union took to its official Instagram page @euinniger on Thursday to announce the date.
“We are happy to announce that the 2021 EUSGBV video competition is gradually coming to a conclusion.
“We wish to specially thank everyone that submitted an entry or more and at the close of submissions had received over 600 entries.
The union stated that they had a 10-man jury project which had been busy reviewing the entries for the best video to emerge.
“Our 10-man jury drawn across the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, Nollywood, the European Union, Spotlight Initiative and the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (ROLAC).
Recall that entries for the competition commenced in January 2021 where the entrants were asked to express what they understand by sexual and gender-based violence and ways to eliminate it in society.
They were also asked to unleash their creativity in a three-minute video to illustrate the positive changes they would like to see and express it with moving pictures using a true-life story or fiction.
The competition was opened to all Nigerians had its entries closed on Jan. 29, 2021. (NAN)
