THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has said that its officials were attacked by thugs in their attempt to conduct search on the residences of Akinwunmi Ambode, former governor of Lagos state in Park View, Ikoyi and country home in Epe, as part of the ongoing investigation of alleged malfeasance.
In a statement released by the commission, it stated that the attack were done by irate youths, who injured three officers and damaged EFCC official vehicle on Tuesday August 20.
“The attack was totally unprovoked as the operatives were civil and did not molest anybody.
“It is also not true that the search, was an attempt to plant foreign currencies in the home of the former governor,” the EFCC said.
It therefore frowned at the attempt to manipulate the video of the search to create the wrong impression that the officers of the agency molested residents at the Epe home of the governor
