MS Asmaa Resmouki, First African President, International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) has charged members of the Society of Women Accountants of Nigeria (SWAN) to open doors to young female professionals.

Resmouki stated this in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday in Lagos, as part of her submissions at the recently concluded 53rd Annual Conference of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

The statement signed by SWAN’s National Chairperson, Mrs Hilda Ozoh, said Resmouki spoke on the theme : “Rising To The Top Of Corporate Ladder : Your Experience.”

The IFAC president revealed that such supports had helped her to grow to the pinnacle of her career and is also important to build future generations of female accountants.

“Getting inspired and inspiration is important for young professionals, but they must ensure that they are in control of their journey and dreams, by not imitating anyone else.

“Journeys are different and unique, and that is what makes them great,”she said.

According to her, female professionals must be courageous enough to say yes to opportunities when they come and trust their abilities to learn and deliver excellently.

Resmouki, also first female president of Pan Africa Federation of Accountants (PAFA) charged the women accountants to come out of their comfort zones and always work hard to prove their abilities.

She stated that most women experience some level of inner fatigue because they are taught to be less assertive than men, but must henceforth be more courageous to confront their challenges.

The notable chartered accountant also charged her female colleagues to invest in themselves and have the courage to be innovative and do things differently

“ You must learn to be more authentic and be courageous not to listen to those who try to kill your aspirations, but thrive on the opportunities others present at any point in time,”she said.

Commenting, SWAN’s Initiator, Past Chairperson and Grand patron, Mrs Elizabeth Adegite, lauded Resmouki’s hard work and determination to reach the pinnacle of her career, while advising women accountants to be more focus and innovative. (NAN)
