FORMER Kogi Governor, Clarance Olafemi, on Friday lauded Gov. Yahaya Bello for relocating the College of Education Technical Kabba to Mopa and the establishment of Kogi State University Kabba.

Olafemi, who gave the commendation while addressing newsmen in Lokoja, also thanked Bello for establishing Kogi State University (KSU), Kabba, in honour of the Okun people in Kogi West.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the relocation of the college of education to Mopa had become imperative in view of the state government’s decision to site the new Kogi State University in Kabba at the current site of the college.

Olafemi described Bello as “God sent governor’’ to the people of the state and a “fair minded person” worth celebrating for his laudable achievements.

“Mopa community has agreed to give the governor full backing by making sure that there was smooth relocation of the institution from Kabba to Government Technical college Mopa.

“Government Technical college, Mopa is a state owned and functional institution with an expanded of land of four kilometers by five kilometres with no dispute on the land.

“We prefer its choice to any other location within Mopa. I and all the people of Mopa community appreciate the committee for relocating the College of Education Technical to Mopa and the establishments of Kogi State University Kabba, “he said.

According to him, what Bello was doing was to correct the mistakes made by previous administrations since inception.

He noted: “We have federal Polytechnic in Idah, Idah federal constituency, we have Prince Abubakar Audu University in Anyigba in Dekina Federal Constituency and we also have College of Education in Ankpa.

“We have Federal College of Education in Okene but no single one in the entire Okun land until now, “he said.

He said when he was governor of Kogi State, he established College of Education Technical in Kabba on the basis that Kabba is the headquarters of Okun.

He added that yet it was relegated to the background to the extent that its name was almost dying.

Olafemi said, “the people of Okun land will ever remain grateful to Gov. Bello for given us this privileged and opportunity to rejoice.” (NAN)
