A former Deputy Governor of Zamfara, Alhaji Ahmad Anka has cautioned Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, against meddlesomeness in the fight against armed banditry in the North-Western states of the country.

Anka, who served as Deputy Governor in Zamfara between 2007 and 2011, made this known in a press statement available to journalists in on Monday Kaduna.

Anka also commended President Bola Tinubu’s decision in directing the Minister of State for Defence, Mr Bello Matawalle, to take the fight to the bandits camps throughout the area.

Anka said that the matter strictly concerned national security and was effectively being handled by the military in the region.

He said: “Let us support Matawalle to succeed in coordinating the current onslaught against bandits in North-West.

Anka said, “The need for Zamfara people to stay focused in the current fight against armed bandits cannot be overemphasised.

”This is because the Federal Government is doing its best to bring lasting peace to our state and region.

”As a people, we also need to come out in praise of the Federal Government through the state government on account of the aggression meted against the bandits.

“This is not time for political fights but an opportunity to bring us as leaders to answer the calls of our people in partnering with the Federal Government to ensure that the bandits are completely eliminated from our state and our region.”

He said it was a good thing and a sign of success that the immediate past Governor, Matawalle, was now a Minister in the nation’s Ministry of Defence.

Anka said, ”Incidentally, he is the one handling the operation. The citizens should give their complete support for him to effectively earn the Federal Government’s confidence.

”This is to enable him to make Zamfara people proud their ambassador in the federal executive council.”

He further stated that the Tinubu administration would be doing its best for rekindling hope and confidence in the people, if the criminals were eradicated.

Anka said, ”This is to enable the people to move freely, go to their farms and produce enough food to bolster food security and create the needed a conducive atmosphere for growth and development.” (NAN)
