SPECIALISTS in repairs of car air-condition (AC) facilities are making brisk business in Damaturu as a result of the harsh weather condition in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the hot weather had been so excessive in the past one month, sometimes exceeding 42 degrees Celsius.

One of the car AC repairers, Adamu Ibrahim, told NAN that business had never been that favourable for the past few years.

Ibrahim, who is also the Manager of Sabo AC Global Ventures, Damaturu, said his daily income had increased by about 200 per cent.

“I now realise between N15o,000 and N200, 000 daily from gas re-filling, system servicing, repairs and sales of system parts such as condensers, compressors, radiator and so on.

“This is as against the N50,000 to N70,000 I used to generate before the advent of the hot season”, revealed Ibrahim, who said he had engaged about 13 apprentices working under him, most of them, youth, aged from 14 to 3o.

Another person engaged in the trade, Bukar Muhammad, said he had made some fortunes in the past one month.

Muhammed, who combines studies at tertiary institutions with the trade, explained that he had been saving enough to sustain himself, as well as sponsor his education.

Another AC repairer, Sadiq Musa, also told NAN that the ‘influx’ of customers had made him to be busy all day long.

“You know there is peak in every season. Now it is our time; we hardly ramain idle due to the high demand for our service,” he said.

A customer, Madu Bakura, told NAN that ensuring the functionality of car AC now, was no longer a luxury, but necessity, due to the harsh weather. (NAN)
