Expert urges Nigerians to use naturally formulated creams to avoid skin burns

AN expert in skin care, Mrs Rosemary Kama, has urged Nigerians to use naturally formulated creams and beauty care products, to avoid skin burns which are usually associated with “harsh unnatural creams“.
Kama, who formulates cosmetics, made the call on Thursday while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu.
She spoke against the background of why more Nigerians have skin burns and damaged skins after using costly creams and other imported beauty products.
According to Kama, the harsh reality is that these manufacturers have studied the psychology of Nigerians wanting to turn from radiant black to looking fair and thus mix harsh unnatural ingredients to bleach the skin.
“There is a negative notion that everybody in Nigeria wants to be light skinned.
“In the process of doing or achieving this, they allow a lot of chemicals into their skin that are harmful in the long run,“ she said.
Kama said there were natural ways one could have beautiful, flawless and natural radiate skin that keeps one naturally younger and healthier.
“Before the advent of these harsh skin chemicals, our forefathers used locally and naturally home-made creams to look younger and they did not suffer the skin burns we see with our people today,” she said.
Kama noted that some Nigerians make things worse by using more chemical infused creams to treat the already burnt skin, leading to further or irredeemable damage of the skin.
She implored Nigerians to know their skin types and what naturally would keep their skin glowing.
“Knowledge of this would minimise cost as the person comes out with home-grown cream he or she can use permanently,” she said.
Kama, who is the Founder of Kamarossy Natural Beauty Empire, Enugu, noted that Nigeria and indeed Africa had a lot of beauty care herbal plants that take very good care of the black skin.
“At Kamarossy, we have a group of experienced cosmetic botanists based in Nigeria and other African countries that ensure top-notch quality herbal ingredients products, created especially to keep African skin youthful and flawless,” she added. (NAN)
