A Kasuwan Nama Upper Area Court, Jos, on Wednesday sentenced a 21-year-old farmer, Isah Musa, to two years imprisonment for raping a seven year-old girl.

The judge, Yahaya Mohammed, convicted Musa, as he admitted committing the offence.

He said that the sentence would serve as a deterrent to others who would want to indulge in such crime.

Earlier, the prosecutor, O.C. Ocho, told the court that the case was reported on May 26, and was transferred from Barkin Ladi Police Station to the State Criminal Investigation Department.

The prosecutor told the court that the convict and one Aliu Umar of Barkin Ladi who is now at large, conspired and forcefully raped the girl.

Ocho said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 283 of the Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria.(NAN)
