Farmer jailed 1 year for attempted assault

A Jos Magistrates’ Court on Monday sentenced a 24-year-old farmer, Zaidu Mohammed  to one year imprisonment for attempted assault.

The Magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to attempted trespass and assault.

Bokkos, however gave Mohammed an option of N50, 000 fine.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat told the court that the case was reported on Aug. 2, at the anti kidnapping unit by a team of officers.

Gokwat said the convict trespassed and attempted to attack his older brother after taking some substances suspected to be hemp.

He said that the offence contravened the provisions of Plateau Penal Code Law. (NAN)
