Farouk assumes NAMA leadership, says zero tolerance for air accidents

THE Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), said its new Managing Director, Mr Ahmed Farouk, had assumed leadership and declared a state of emergency on power for operational efficiency.

A statement by Amaka Walker, General Manager, Public Affairs, on Monday, announced that Farouk had assumed leadership and had communication and airspace stability as priorities.

The statement was issued in Abuja and made available to journalists in Lagos.

Walker said the new managing director had declared a state of emergency on power within the agency, signaling a proactive stance aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.

“NAMA is no longer on trial; we are on course, and our commitment to excellence is resolute,” he said.

Addressing the paramount importance of flight safety, Farouk pledged zero tolerance for air accidents.

He emphasised strict adherence to global safety standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), prioritising the safety and well-being of the flying public.

Farouk underlined his dedication to maintaining industry-leading safety measures and called for collective responsibility.

He said his leadership would pursue a future for NAMA marked by excellence and safety, while praying for blessings and guidance.

Farouk expressed gratitude to his predecessor, Tayib Odunowo, for effectively tackling numerous challenges in the airspace.

He called for continued staff support and assured of priority to the welfare of both active and retired staff of the agency.

Farouk, an engineer, also promised a renewed commitment to safety and industry standards. (NAN)
