TUNJI Ajuloopin, the member representing Ekiti, Isin, Irepodun and Oke-Ero Federal Constituency of Kwara, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the disbursement of loans to his constituents.
Ajuloopin gave the commendation on Friday in Omu-Aran while presenting certificates to 329 beneficiaries of the Agric-Business Small and Medium Enterprises Investment Scheme (AGSMIES) loan after their training.
He said the president’s approach to governance had given all Nigerians equal opportunities and access to the commonwealth.
The training was organised by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).
“In November 2019, I saw President Muhammadu Buhari’s initiatives on how to empower Nigerians by creating 30 million jobs anchored by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
“This is by giving out loans to Agro-businesses and Creative industry for Nigerians with the single-digit loan and for tenure not less than seven years.
” I wasted no time drawing up a team that can help fast track this to help my people, I swung into action by engaging a consultant to assist us in creating access to this loan,” he said.
He said among terms of reference given to the team was to determine the major trades, practices, and commodities of farmers in order to activate an action plan for value addition to all farm products.
Ajuloopin said that the term was also to pre-qualify those who could not be trained to access both AGSMIES and CIFI loan and to also recommend an Entrepreneur Development Institute (EDI).
He added that ordinary members of his constituency were now benefitting from initiatives hitherto considered the exclusive preserve of privileged persons.
The lawmaker also disclosed that more than 120 people from his constituency had benefited from the COVID-19 loan.
He urged those yet to benefit to exercise patience as more would still be captured in the exercise.
Ajuloopin explained that his constituency office had collected the data of applicants and processed the loan for them at no cost to the beneficiaries.
” Please let us remember the money is a loan and not a free gift, we should bear in mind that every kobo collected will be repaid.
“I have played my part as your duly elected representative, I beseech you to please utilise the money, invest in the productive venture, don’t use the money for partying, wedding and any mundane activities,” he said.
Chief Aare Adeoti, an elder statesman who spoke at the event, thanked the lawmaker for his people-oriented programmes.
He said Ajuloopin had performed creditably in just one year in office.
Also speaking, a retired Maj.-Gen. Abdulazeez Abidoye advised the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money and become employers of labour soon. (NAN)
