Federal lawmakers mourn Oyo APC leaders

HOUSE of Representatives members from Oyo State elected on the platform of APC on Monday described the demise of Chief Samuel Akindele, Pa Samuel Farinu and Alhaji Salaudeen Adelere as a huge loss to the progressives movement.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Akindele, the state APC Vice Chairman, died on Sunday, a few days after the party lost the pioneer chairman of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria(ACN), Pa Samuel Farinu and another chieftain, Pa Salaudeen Adelere.
The caucus chairman of the federal lawmakers, Rep. Segun Odebunmi, said in a statement in Ibadan that the deceased died at a time when their wise counsel and support were needed.
“They all lived well and did their best especially to serve humanity and advance progressive politics in Nigeria, an honourable path which they all chose since their early days in politics.
“No doubt they will be missed by all of us but we pray that Almighty God consoled their immediate, extended and political families. May the Lord grant us all the grace to bear the irreparable loss,” he said.
The lawmaker also urged all stakeholders including aggrieved party members to cooperate with the peace committee put in place to resolve all disagreements.
“We need to work together to win the next election. The people of Oyo State are already missing APC style of governance because of the deceit that characterised the present administration. For us to rescue the state, we need to bury the hatchet and move on,” he said. (NAN)
