THE Nigerian government has rolled out guidelines for the phase three of eased lockdown as a result of the coronavirus, COVID-19, extending curfew hours to begin from 12 mid-night to 4am in the morning.

The new guidelines announced on Thursday, September 3, by the Presidential Task Force, PTF, on COVID-19 stated that there will be no formal restrictions on movement within the country. “But the risk remains, therefore citizens are encouraged to refrain from unnecessary movement; and comply with non-pharmaceutical guidelines such as the mandatory use of face-mask/coverings in public,” the PTF said.

The guidelines stated that aviation services will fully resume on September 5, when the international airspace will be opened and joined with already existing domestic aviation services.

Stating that new guidelines on risk reduction will be published by the PTF for international travelers, the PTF said that only travellers and airport staff are to be allowed into airport structures at this time, advising passengers to ensure they arrive early for all flights taking into consideration the delays likely to arise from these additional measures (1.5 hours domestic and 3 hours international).

The private sector are advised by the new guidelines to maintain normal working hours and ensure social distancing of staff who should comply with other health advisory like wearing of face mask and use of hand sanitisers.

Public servants are to ensure work at home policy for staff below level 12 while those above level 12 should report to office.
