THE Federal Government Wednesday gave a nod to the opening of a job creation portal for Nigerians living in the country and in the Diaspora.
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige announced this to reporters after the Federal Executive Council meeting.
He said the council approved the portal called Nigerian Labour Exchange (NILEX) which would be domiciled in his ministry for job creation.
He said the digital platform, expected to be completed in 12 weeks by the approved consultant, would be used by both employers and job seekers.
He said when the “platform becomes operational, all those phone platforms that ask people to register for work, pay in N10,000 or N20,000, will become a thing of the past.
“The employers will come in and load the vacancy they have, the type of skill they want, the qualifications of people that can fit in there.
“Then, the job seekers, graduates, non-graduates will register, put in the qualification, put in their skill and what you can do and then the two groups are matched. The employer can speak with a job seeker, via that platform.”
Ngige said the FEC also approved the digitisation of the operations of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) to boost economy and ease of doing business.
He said the e-NSITF, which would cost N1.2bn, would be completed in eight weeks by the approved consultant.
