GOVERNOR Willie Obiano of Anambra has granted the request of the Federal Fire Service to build an office in Awka, the Anambra capital to strengthen fire fighting and prevention in the state.

Martin Agbili, the commandant, Anambra State Fire Service, unveiled the plan while exchanging views with newsmen in Awka on June 5.

Agbili said that Obiano had always been interested in protecting lives and property of people, which he had demonstrated since inception of his administration.

The fire service commandant noted that the governor had granted the Federal Fire Service their request to have land on which to build their zonal office in the state.

“The governor wanted a synergy with the FG in fire fighting and prevention, so that Ndi Anambra will enjoy absolute safety.’’

He, however, reiterated the readiness of the state fire service to collaborate with federal fire to achieve impressive results.

“My leadership in fire service will bring about positive change in the sector as I will ensure better service delivery,’’ he said.
