Dr Asabe Vilita-Bashir, Director-General, MBNCWD made this known on Friday in Abuja.
During the closing ceremony of the exercise, Vilita-Bashir said that the beneficiaries were trained on ICT, mechatronics, and the use of assistive technologies to enhance participants’ productivity and self-reliance.
She said that the exercise, with the theme “Promoting Gender Equality and Inclusiveness through Digital Skills and Innovations,” comprised 40 female technicians and 40 PWDs.
According to her, the training underscores the fact that there is ability in disability.
“It also shows that wiith the right resources, we can achieve greater things together,” she said.
She highlighted the centre’s broader mission of empowering women and marginalised groups, particularly in rural areas, through sustainable development programmes
The D-G said that over 2,000 women across the country have been trained and given laptops and ICT tools since 2015.
She said that ICT served as a catalyst for achieving the Federal Government’s eight-point agenda, including food security, job creation, inclusion, and poverty eradication.
“We encourage women and youths, who constitute over 70 per cent of the nation’s population, to harness the power of ICT to actively participate in and benefit from the ongoing information revolution,” she said.
While presenting certificates, brand-new tablets, power banks, and transportation stipends to the beneficiaries, she urged them to utilise the skills and tools acquired to improve their lives and contribute to their communities.
“We will continue to support and track your progress to ensure that you succeed in your chosen fields.
“We also encourage you to cascade this training to other persons to make them self-reliant and productive,” she said.

Miss Miracle Adama-Ojochebe, a beneficiary, said that the ttraining and the tools would help the beneficiaries to become resourceful technicians and ICT experts.
She said that the, MBNCWD had not empowered them, but also demonstrated the power of unity in diversity.
“And through this programme, we have discovered our potentials, recognised our strength, and unleashed our possibilities.
” We have learnt that regardless of our state, our religion, our tribe, our specialisation, we can excel in any every field and drive innovation to make meaningful impact,” she said.
