Final 8 Championship: MFM edge past Customs of Abuja

MOUNTAIN of Fire Miracles (MFM) Basketball Club of Lagos defeated Customs of Abuja, 72-64 on Saturday at the ongoing Zenith Bank Women’s Basketball Final 8 in Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the match was highly competitive as both teams worked their socks off to determine the final scorelines.
It was MFM who rose to an early lead in the first quarter of the match following some impressive ball displays and good team work.
They took the first and second quarters, 14-11, 20-19, relying on their aggressive and energetic ball play.
The looked sharper and smatter on the offensive and defensive play.
The team came out stronger in the third and fourth quarters of the game, Customs tried to fight back, but met a very determined MFM side.
MFM’s coach Ochuko Owolabi, told NAN that she was happy with the result and looked forward to playing in the semifinals.
“It’s a good result we worked hard for it and deserve the win, we move on to the crucial stage where maximum concentration is key ,”Owolabi said.
Abdulraman Mohammed,the Head Coach of Customs told NAN that his team played a tough opposition and were unable to raise their game.
“We played against a better team today.A team that is good and very organised, we just have to put that behind us now and focus on the next match,”Mohammed said.
NAN reports that First Bank of Lagos beat Bayelsa Blue Whales, 57-32 while Royal Aceso Abuja thrashed city rivals, Titans of Abujaz 63-52 in the other matches decided on Saturday.(NAN
