Flamingoes: Bankole assures Nigerians of good results in world cup

OLOWOOKERE Bankole, Head Coach of Nigeria Female Under 17 Football Team, Flamingoes, has assured Nigerians of good results in the FIFA world cup scheduled for Dominican Republic on Oct. 6.
Bankole told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja that the team was determined to surpass their previous outings in the championship.
NAN reports that Flamingoes defeated Germany to be cladded with bronze at the India 2022 U-17 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The coach said the team had been training tremendously in the camp since last month preparing for the world cup.
“All the units of the team from goalkeepers, attackers, defenders, midfielders, strikers; everyone have been passing through rigorous training.
“We don’t want to leave any stone untouched, we have been training on a daily basis to correct all the lapses observed in the last edition of the championship.
“We are praying and we are hopeful that our efforts with be fruitful, with God on our side, we will make the country proud.
“We urge Nigerians to support us with prayers so that we will be victorious and return home with the desirable results,” he said.
The coach said the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has been given the team the necessary support to be comfortable to give a good results.
“NFF is supporting us with everything we need,what we need now is fatherly and motherly advise for us to excel.
“‘This is under 17 team, there are some areas that we might be doing wrong, they need to correct us so that we will become better,.
“With seriousness, determination, high level of discipline and dedication the girls with excel in the world cup,” he said.
NAN reports that Flamingoes, have been drawn in Group A of the finals alongside host nation and debutant Dominican Republic, Ecuador and New Zealand.
Matches will be played in two Dominican cities of Santo Domingo, at the Felix Sanchez Stadium, Sant Domingo, and at the CFC Stadium,Santiago de los Caballeros.
The 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will be the 8th edition of the championship .The tournament will end on Nov.3.(NAN)
