ACTION Against Hunger, a non-governmental organisation, has donated non-food items to 360 households affected by 2022 flood in Potiskum and Fika Local Government Areas of Yobe.

The Executive Secretary, Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr Mohammad Goje stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Damaturu on Thursday.

He said the donation was a post flood recovery effort towards supporting the households drawn from 12 communities across six wards in the affected areas.

Goje listed the communities to include Arikime; Gongola, Fara-Fara, Arjali, Ngojin, Damboa, Bedu, Sabuwar Kwata, Savanna, Unguwar Bolewa, Dadin Kowa, Kukuwale and Ngalda.

The executive secretary said items distributed to the victims included roofing sheets, pieces of wood, bags of cement, nails, among others.

While commending Action Against Hunger for keying into the state post-flood recovery initiative, Goje said the organisation would also support 270 additional victims.

The victims, he said, appreciated the organisation and the state government for the gesture.

“Some of the victims are temporarily taking refuge at the newly constructed estate along Damaturu – Kano road in Potiskum.

“They are optimistic that the support will enable them to rebuild their homes and return to their ascentral  communities,” he said. (NAN)
