Dr Muhammad Aminu-Usman, Medical Director, Federal Medical Center, Bida, Niger, says the center will improve its service delivery to patients .

Aminu-Usman made the pledge in Bida at the opening of a 3-day Management and Leadership Skills Training Course, organised for the Senior members of staff of the hospital on Monday.

He said that the course was organised by the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Minna, in conjunction with the centre, to promote prudence and effective service delivery.

” Our services are as good as the quality of staff we have; this training programme is organised to ensure that our teeming clients get the best services they require and deserve.

” The training is therefore aimed at beefing up the capacities and capabilities of the wide range number of staff we have,” he said.

He said that the training package was to improve the diligence and commitment of the participants, to live above board in the discharge of their duties.

“Each member of staff, from the security personnel to the Consultant, has a great role to play in ensuring the proper functioning of FMC, Bida.

” All of us must therefore exhibit the right attitude to work , just as we should always employ unfettered decorum in doing our various jobs.

” We should always act to justify the confidence and trust reposed in us and always effectively work for good results,” the medical director said.

He also said that the management would continue to provide the requisite enabling environment and motivation for the personnel to operate.

Aminu- Usman expressed delight that the staff of the hospital were highly trained and motivated to provide quality services to the patients.

Mr Zachariah Piwuna, Director, Research and Curriculum Development, ITF, headquarters, Jos, thanked the management of  the centre for patronising the fund and also concurred that the training would boost the capabilities of the participants in effective service delivery.

Piwuna urged health workers in public hospitals, especially medical doctors, to be courteous and dedicated while dealing with patients just like they practise in their own private clinics.

Earlier, The Director of Administration of the Centre, Alhaji Musa Ladan, commended the management for giving the participants the opportunity to be part of the programme.

” Various thought-provoking themes were packaged by the ITF to beef up best service delivery,” Ladan said.

He pledged that all the participants would put the knowledge gained at the programme to proper use in order to greatly improve their performance.(NAN)
