Former Executive Secretary TETFUND, Bogoro to deliver penpushing 5th anniversary lecture

THE former Executive Secretary Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), Prof Suleiman Bogoro will deliver the 5th anniversary keynote lecture of Penpushing Media, scheduled to hold July 25, 2023 in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital.

A statement issued by the Planning Committee Chairperson, Dr Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi and Sina Adefolahan (Secretary), disclosed that the renowned Development Expert has given his consent to be the guest lecturer.

The statement added that Bogoro will deliver the lecture with the theme, ‘Burden of Inclusivity and Nigeria’s Democracy”, at the event slated to take place at Marquee Events Centre, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta

The committee added that the sub theme panelists include: General Manager Fresh F.M, Abeokuta Samson Akindele who will speak on ‘Political Minority’, while David Anyaele of Centre for Citizens with Disability (CCD) to speak on ‘Inclusivity and People Living With Disability (PLWD) and Toun Okewale-Sonaiya, Founder of Women Radio WFM, will speak on Inclusivity and Gender

The guest lecturer is a leader on the pioneer Council of the Think Tank for Translating Research to Innovations, Strategies, Evidence for Policy and National Development created by the University of Ibadan Research Foundation.

The Professor in the initial part of his first tenure as the Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), through his interest in research and development (R&D) led to the creation of the Department of Research and Development (R and D) at the TETFUND.

Bogoro obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture in 1981 from the University of Maiduguri, Masters Degree in Animal Science from ABU, Zaria in 1988 and a Ph.D in Animal Science at the Federal University of Technology, now Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi in 1997, and was elevated to the rank of Professor of Animal Science (specialising in Biochemistry and Ruminant Nutrition) in 2003.

The prolific researcher is among the Senior and accomplished leaders providing oversight as members of the Council for the National Think Tank for Translating Research to Innovations, Strategies and Evidence for Policies in Nigeria. The leaders are academics, professional officers, technical, business and administrative leaders selected from universities, research institutions, national agencies and the media

He has numerous publications in international and local journals, with his versatility also projected through consultancy on and management of international, national and regional projects supported by the World Bank, UNDP, USAID, DFID, IPCR, OSIWA, NDI, FHI, NACA, and IFES.

The planning committee explained in the statement that Penpushing Media is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and received certificate on June 1, 2017, which gave birth to its online publication.

The committee said the lecture has become an annual event with resounding successes, adding that previous lecturers include late Prof Oye Ibidapo-Obe(former Vice Chancellor University of Lagos), Mr Ronald Kayanja (Country Director, United Nations Information Centre) , Prof Yemisi Obilade, (former Vice Chancellor Tai Solarin University of Education) and Dr Chichi Aniagolu, Regional Director for West Africa, Ford Foundation.

The statement stated that Penpushing which is robustly being nurtured through the journalistic ideology of the need for credible sources of news, parades high caliber personalities across the globe painstakingly created and designed to add value to journalism worldwide
