Former Lagos AG Shasore pleads not guilty to money laundering charge

A former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Lagos State, Olasupo Shashore, has been arraigned before a Federal High Court Lagos on a four-count charge of money laundering.
Shashore, who was arraigned before Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke, however, pleaded not guilty to all the counts.
After his plea, the prosecutor of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Bala Sanga, asked the court to remand the defendant in prison pending his trial.
However, the defence team led by Senior Advocates of Nigeria Adeyemi Candide-Johnson, Muiz Banire, Segun Ajibola and Chijioke Okoli asked the court to grant the defendant bail on self recognizance.
The prosecutor did not oppose the request for bail but said that the prosecution is only interested in the merit case.
As of the time of this report, the court stepped down the matter till 11am when it will give its ruling.
