Former Nasarawa speaker preaches love, peace, tolerance

FORMER Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, has advised couples to show love, patience, understanding and embrace peace for their marriage to be successful.

The former speaker gave the advice in Toto LGA during the wedding of the son of former member representing Toto/Gadabuke constituency at the state legislature and the current Secretary of the state Teacher’s Service Commission, Mr Usman Shafa.

Shafa’s son, Usman Mohammed, was married to Aisha Isah in Kuru, Toto Local Government Area, on Saturday.

Abdullahi, who stood in for the groom’s father, congratulated the couple,  urging them to embrace tolerance, forgiveness, respect, obedience, effective communication and understanding for their marriage to last.

Abdullahi also enjoined them not to allow third party interference in their marital affairs.

Mr Haruna Mohammed, an opinion leader in the area, stood in for the bride’s father and prayed God to bless their marriage abundantly.

Reacting, Shafa thanked God for the successful wedding of his son and his wife.

“I want to congratulate my son and his wife on their successful marriage life

“My prayers is for God to protect, guide and bless their marriage abundantly,” he said.

The TSC scribe also urged the couple to embrace the good virtues of marriage, including love, peace, understanding and effective communication for their marriage to last.

Shafa also appreciated the former speaker of the state legislature; the Chairman of Toto Local Government Council, Mr Aliyu Tashas; and the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Gaza Gwamna, among other personalities and well wishers for attending the wedding and wished them safe journey mercies.

Earlier, Malam Abdullahi Ahmed, an Islamic cleric from Toto, announced  payment of N100,000 as dowry and presentation of medical certificates.

The cleric advised the couple to show love and understanding to each other in order to enjoy their marriage.

The Chief Imam also prayed for the nation’s unity, leaders, progress and development.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the wedding also featured reception and sword crossing at GSS Laminga, Nasarawa LGA, to honour the groom, who is an Immigration Officer. (NAN)
