FORMER Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) President, Olumide Akpata, has expressed his disappointment in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for failing in its duty to conduct a free, fair and credible election.
The legal luminary took to his social media to make his thoughts known about the conduct of the general election.
He posted a video of himself in Dubai after the Saturday election and stated that he had to move to a saner place after the drama and trauma a lot of people faced during the polls.
He praised Dubai for being intentional about getting better and doing things in a better way.
He added that his next point of call is India, the largest democracy in the world, where they practice free, fair and credible elections.
“After the drama and trauma of last Saturday, I had to come up for air. I had to come to a saner and less toxic clime where the presumption of regularity is still a valid notion.
“Dubai, I haven’t been here since pre-COVID days and I had almost forgotten how intentional these guys are about being better, doing better.
“Next stop, India, the largest democracy in the world, where they still manage to hold free, fair, transparent and credible elections.

“#Who we offend. #Japa on my mind,” he wrote.
Akpata’s outburst comes a few days after the current President of the NBA, Yakubu Maikyau, praised INEC for performing well in the 2023 election.
