Foundation calls for united front against human trafficking crisis in Nigeria

THE Adinya Arise Foundation, AAF, has called on all stakeholders, including policy makers and the general public to stand against human trafficking.

The call became necessary following the alarming number of children, men, and women, including a disturbing number of young girls are trafficked daily and subjected to unspeakable horrors and exploitation.

According to the statement on Monday by its Executive Director and Anchor, Countering Trafficking in Persons Commission Cluster, Mabel Adinya Ade, human trafficking is a grave crisis that strikes at the heart of the nation’s values and humanity.

Ade explained that over the past month alone, the alarming frequency of rescued victims highlights the scale of this tragedy.

“This is a call to action for all stakeholders: policymakers, community leaders, religious leaders and every citizen of our great nation.

“Human trafficking, in its various forms and across our borders, continues to plague our communities.

“We must confront this scourge with unwavering determination and collective effort. We urge policymakers to enact and enforce stringent laws that punish traffickers severely. Community and religious leaders, you hold the moral authority and influence to educate and protect our vulnerable members.

“Let us be vigilant, recognizing the signs of trafficking and swiftly reporting suspicious activities. Together, we can build a protective shield around our communities, ensuring no one falls prey to this modern-day slavery.

“In unity and resolve, let us stand against human trafficking. Our future generations deserve nothing less than a Nigeria free from this menace,” he said.

Ade also expressed sympathy to victims of trafficking, we extended the foundations unwavering support towards ending the menace.

According to him, a comprehensive support systems must be in place to facilitate healing and restoration.

“Justice must prevail,” he added.
