AN NGO, Women at the Well of Living Water Foundation, Adamawa chapter, has empowered some widows and struggling families with foodstuffs to cushion the effects of the economic condition.
Speaking during the distribution of the items on Tuesday in Yola, Founder of the UK-based foundation, Jessica Edmund, said the gesture was to alleviate the sufferings being experienced by the beneficiaries, following the current high costs of foodstuffs.
Edmund, represented by the foundation’s Coordinator in Adamawa, Kate Ransom-Stephen, said: “Today, we are here to help people with foodstuffs and teach them how to catch fish, to succeed in life.
“Knowing that the situation is hard in the country, that is why we are here to cushion the effects of hunger among our people.”
The foundation’s Grand Patron in the state, Bishop Ransom Stephen, said that the gesture was timely, going by the current economic situation in Nigeria.
Stephen expressed appreciation to the founder for the gesture and prayed for more success in her future endeavours.
He called on other kind-hearted Nigerians to emulate the founder of the foundation by assisting the less-privileged in their respective communities and beyond.
One of the beneficiaries, Victoria Favour, who spoke on behalf of others, commended the foundation for the gesture and wished it more successes. (NAN)
