A group, AID Foundation in partnership with CISLAC on Monday launched a competition for Nigerians to provide alternative ways of sourcing revenue for the development of North-Western states.

Executive Director of the foundation, Mr Emmanuel Bonet, made this known while addressing journalists in Kaduna on Monday.

He said the initiative was aimed at eliciting the views of residents of the seven states in the zone on the diverse ways towards generating revenue by their individual state governments.

Bonet said there was a total sum of N700,000 to be contested for and won by residents of North- West with each state going with N100,000.

“Each contestant will either record a video or audio of not more than two minutes or write an essay of not more that 200 words outlining their suggestions.

“Their suggestions of what they think their various state governments should do to generate additional sources of revenue that can be used for the development of their states”, he said.

According to him, the competition is open to all ages from 18 who must be residents of the state they were providing solutions for.

He said that 14 judges had been selected from tertiary and professional institutions across the zone, adding that adherence to the rules of the game and time would be used in selecting the winners.

Bonet explained that all entries would be sent to @aidfoundation on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter while tagging @CAID_Nigeria and @cislacnigeria with the hashtag #NWDebtSolutions.

He urged the government to explore other sources of funding towards improving inclusion transparency, accountability and public finance management.(NAN)
