Foundation, UNFPA donates sanitary items to girls in Kaduna State

ZAMANI Foundation, with support from the United Nations Funds for Population Activities (UNFPA) has donated over 110 bags of sanitary pads and other items to girls in Kaduna State.

President of the Foundation, Mrs Talatu Henry said 110 adolescent girls who benefited from the items were drawn from different rural communities and Interally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in Kaduna south.

Henry also demonstrated to the girls how to use the reusable pads, as well as showcased the contents in the bags.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that other contents of the bag include pants, soap, hand sanitiser, liquid soap, bar soap and torch with a branded UNFPA bag for adolescent girls.

The president said that the items were given to the Foundation by their partners UNFPA to distribute to the adolescent beneficiaries.

Also speaking, Mrs Christy Makama, who represented UNFPA spoke on how to ensure menstrual hygiene.

Makama also advised the girls on the need to always take their bath regularly, especially during menstruation, while noting that disposable pads be used for just two to three hours a day.

According to her, personal hygiene should be their watch word and they should always be neat during menstruation and after their menstrual period to avoid contacting infections. (NAN)
