THE Fountain University, Osogbo, on Monday, appointed a Professor of Food Science and Technology, Olayinka Karim, as the first female Vice Chancellor of the institution.

In statement by Mr Adenekan Sheriff, the university’s Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council, the appointment of Karim was approved after an emergency meeting on Monday in Osogbo.

The statement said the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council,  Dr Awa Ibraheem, announced decision of the Board of Trustees.

“The Pro-Chancellor informed that the appointment, which will take effect from March 1 is for a four-year term in the first instance as the tenure of the current Vice Chancellor, Prof. Amidu Olalekan Sanni, lapses on Tuesday, February 28,“ the statement said.

Ibraheem praised the outgoing vice chancellor, Prof. Sanni, for his passion, forthrightness and dedication to duty.

The pro-chancellor urged the new vice chancellor to be steadfast by doing her very best towards uplifting the university to the next level,” the statement said. (NAN)
