FRSC apprehends 7,868 traffic offenders in Ogun in Q1

THE Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun Command, says no fewer than 7,868 traffic offenders were apprehended in the first quarter of 2018 across the state.
Mr Clement Oladele, the Ogun Sector Commander of FRSC, made this known on Wednesday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ota.
Oladele said that the offenders were arrested for various offences.
He said that 8,661 traffic offenders were apprehended during the same period in 2017.
The sector commander said that 9,113 were booked in 2018, compared to 10, 268 offenders in 2017.
“The most prominent offences among the erring drivers include: tyre violations, seat belt violation and failure to install speed limiting device,” he said.
Oladele said that aggressive public enlightenment of motorists had drastically reduced the number of traffic offenders apprehended in 2018.
He reiterated the FRSC’s commitment to continue to embark on extensive campaigns that would reduce traffic offenders and crashes in the state.
