The Sector Commander, Mr Angus Ibezim, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Wednesday.
Ibezim said the command was optimistic in achieving the set goal through the conduct of periodic education and enlightenment at motor parks and other public places.
He said that improvement on enforcement and rescue services were also part of the measures put in place by the corps to ensure that the target was achieved.
“To improve on the performance of the out gone year, the command in 2018 targets improvement on enforcement and rescue services, targeting 15 per cent reduction in road crashes and 30 per cent in fatality.
“We also want to enhance the proficiency of personnel, through training and retraining and improved mentorship, monitoring and evaluation of staff.
“As well as sustenance of transparency in the command’s activities and good customer service in line with Government Order on ease of doing business,” he said.
The sector commander also said that the corps was working to achieve the goal through enhanced communication, use of social media and Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
He said the command would further increase the visibility and presence of its patrol operatives to cover more grounds and address the road safety needs of people across the state.
“Increasing the visibility and presence of patrol operatives will enable us to cover more grounds and address the road safety needs of motorists and other road users across the state,” he said.
Ibezim, who reiterated the resolve of the command to ensure the safety of lives and property in the state, called on all stakeholders to cooperate and support the corps in the implementation of its policies and programmes.
“The Stakeholders, especially, NURTW, NARTO and ACOMORAN, are enjoined to key into the policies and programmes of the command, most importantly to adhere to traffic rules and regulations.
“The leaderships of these unions should always carry along their members in policy guidance and implementation.
