THE Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Niger on Thursday warned articulated vehicle drivers against indiscriminate parking on federal highways.

The Sector Commander, Mr Yusuf Garba, gave the warning in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna.

He said most accidents occurred as a result of breakdown of such vehicles parked on the highways.

According to him, the sector command has taken measures to arrest and prosecute drivers found wanting.

Garba added that overloading of trucks mostly lead to break down of such heavy trucks.

He said FRSC personnel had been stationed along Jebba-Mokwa; Bida-Minna,
Minna-Lambata and Suleja-Kaduna federal highways to ensure strict compliance.

He noted that “we have also reached out to leaders of the articulated drivers to educate them
on the dangers involved in overloading and the importance of obeying traffic rules and regulations while on the wheel.”
