AIDES, Plateau citizens and other well-wishers have commended the leadership style of Gov. Simon Lalong of the state as he celebrates 60th birthday.

Lalong marked the anniversary on Friday in Jos with a prayer session where well wihers commended him for pragmatic development in the state.

The Commissioner for Finance, Dr Felicia Soemlat, who spoke on behalf of the state executives, described Lalong as hardworking and passionate leader who is committed to improving the welfare of his people.

She said that the governor demonstrated the passion during the COVID-19 pandemic, where he advised the residents to be inoculated with COVID-19 vaccine.

“He did not sideline anyone base on ethnicity or religion; we witnessed and saw this.

“When you leave, people would be able to affirm what you have done for Plateau,” she noted.

She also thanked him for initiating the Lalong legacy projects and other infrastructure development in the state.

Similarly, Lalong’s Special Adviser on Job Creation and Entrepreneurship, Mr Samuel Kwamkur, described Lalong as humble and a silent achiever who impacted positively on lives in Plateau, especially the youth.

Speaker of the Plateau House of Assembly Yakubu Sanda thanked God for the governor’s life, saying that he did the best he could do for the state.

He said that Plateau people were proud of him and appealed to them to forgive him for his shortcomings in the course of governance.

Also, the Permanent Secretary of Government House, Mrs Mary Afan, thanked the governor for his infrastructure development, especially the construction of the British American interchange (flyover) and 1.7km dual carriageway to Lamingo Junction roundabout.

In his exhortation, the Chaplain of Government House Chapel, Rev.Fr. Godfrey Gopep, urged the governor to be grateful for attaining 60 years of age.

He said that he should also use his birthday to reflect on the achievements he had made through God’s grace and strive to be better.

Lalong thanked his executives, aides, Government House workers and his domestic staff for the cooperation and cordial relationship accorded him.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that special prayers were also conducted for the governor for success in his future endeavours.(NAN)
