No fewer than five persons were killed in a gas pipeline explosion in south-western Iran’s Khuzestan Province on Thursday.

“The explosion occurred along a portion of the Ahvaz-Ramhormoz pipeline, consuming two vehicles and a bus.

“Emergency crew members were able to extinguish the fire, but the exact number of persons killed and injured remained unclear,’’ a fire brigade spokesman told the Isna news agency.

An investigation is currently under way to determine the cause of the explosion. (dpa/NAN)
