German agency, LMDC partner to promote increased access to justice

THE German Agency for International Corporation (GIZ)-SEDIN has partnered the Lagos State Multi-Door Courthouse (LMDC) to promote increased access to justice in the state.
Mrs Justina Chukwuma, Asst. Director/Head of Corporate Services, LMDC, made this known during second batch of the training for LMDC staff on Wednesday in Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the training was entitled: “Basic Training on Personal Effectiveness and Data Management Skills for Staff of LMDC.
Chukwuma said the training the training of LMDC staff was to help improve on its approach and methodology.
She said: “We found that we needed to get more insight on certain areas to enable us become more effective in our daily service delivery.
“From the first batch, we have begun to see a lot of difference in our approach and methodology. We are excited and the presentations so far has been interesting.”
According to her, the LMDC is in charge of the security arm of the Lagos State TEAMS Agenda working from the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
She said this was to ensure that peace was restored in the society and accelerate justice dispensation that is cost effective.
Mrs Chinazo Okoye, the State Coordinator and Policy Advisor of GIZ-SEDIN, said that the LMDC was strategic for GIZ-SEDIN as contract enforcement and conflict resolution in the state would improve investments.
She said that the LMDC was primarily to address conflicts between Micro Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSMEs) and that resolving such conflicts would drive investments.
One of the participants, Mr Emmanuel Olayinka, Case Manager at LMDC said that he came expectant because of the feedback he got from participants of the first batch.
Olayinka said that he was optimistic that there would be improved and effective delivery of services at the LMDC, specifically in the areas of leadership, communication and data management.(NAN)
