A 28-year-old Syrian has been detained in connection with suspected war crimes, German Federal Prosecutors said in the South-Western German City of Karlsruhe on Thursday.
The man is suspected of inhumane treatment of two men under his control in the northern Syrian province of Idlib, participating with others in beating the near-naked men with a cable.
The victims were seen as supporters of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
The suspect was detained on Wednesday in the Freiburg region of south-western Germany and is being held in custody while investigations proceed. (dpa/NAN)
