THE Global Partnership to End Violence Against Children has announced the appointment of Howard Taylor as executive director. With deep experience in catalysing positive social change for children, Taylor will carry forward End Violence’s vision of a world in which every child grows up free from violence.
Most recently the managing director of Girl Effect, and vice president and managing director of the Nike Foundation, Taylor is a transformational leader who has held senior roles in government, corporate foundation and non-profit environments in Africa, Asia, Europe and the US.
Upon his appointment, Taylor said: “I am honoured, humbled and excited to lead End Violence into its important next phase, to help accelerate progress towards ending all forms of violence against every child, wherever they may live.”
Elisabeth Dahlin, Partnership Interim Board chair and secretary general of Save the Children Sweden, said: “Howard Taylor is uniquely qualified to galvanize End Violence’s continuing efforts to build political will, accelerate action, and strengthen collaboration for a future without violence.”
On his part, Kathleen Cravero, Partnership Board member and executive committee chair, and president of Oak Foundation, said: “The Global Partnership has come a long way in under two years – thanks to the outstanding leadership of the founding director, Susan Bissell. We are confident that Taylor will build on this strong foundation.
“From its inception this Partnership was designed to establish that violence against children is both unacceptable and preventable. Bissell has shaped the Partnership in line with this vision and we look forward to her continued leadership, both within the Partnership and in the broader field of child protection.”
Taylor will assume his role as Partnership Executive Director in March 2018. The Global Partnership to End Violence Against Children used the occasion to extend its utmost gratitude to Susan Bissell for her invaluable service as founding director.
