CYPRIAN Okpalakunne, a reverend father and the Catholic priest, Holy Family Catholic Church, Nkpor Agu, Anambra State, has tasked the faithful to go out for their voter’s card registration.
Okpalakunne made the appeal on March 11, in a homily delivered to mark the fourth Sunday of Lenten Season.
He urged every Christian, up to 18 years and above to take very seriously the issue of voter’s registration.
Okpalakunne noted that voter’s registration was not only for voting alone, but for other useful purposes.
The catholic cleric stressed the need for the citizens to take full ownership of the nation’s electoral processes by taking active part in 2019 elections.
Okpalakunne, then, advised parents, whose children had attained voting age, to allow them to participate in voter’s registration exercise, being carried out in every local government area.
He added: “it is only voters’ cards that qualify someone to vote during the election without disturbance.’’
Okpalakunne, however, enjoined unregistered, but eligible voters to troop out to register, warning that without their voter’s cards, the south east zone might be left out of the scheme of things.
