A prominent political figure in Delta state, Chief Nkem Okwuofu, popularly called Aguwanyi, said she saw a divine revelation that Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori would be governor of the state, following intense prayers.

Speaking in an interview at Asaba while recalling the events that led to the ascendancy of Oberevwori as governor in 2023, Okwuofu said she sought spiritual guidance from God to give discernment on the right choice of governor among various aspirants until Oborevwori emerged.

Okwuofu generally regarded as the matriarch of Delta politics, having successfully helped to enthrone a generation of civilian governors since the Ibru administration in 1992, stated that Oborevwori was a product of grace.

The People’s Democratic Party PDP stalwart and former chairman of Delta State Civil Service Commission said Oborevwori’s governorship bid took eight months to conceive as she prayed with some other stakeholders to midwife the ambition.

“ Revelation compelled me to support Oborevwori to become governor. He is a child of grace. Working with some other persons, we waited on God to reveal his choice on who will lead Delta in 2023.The supplication spanned eight months Then Sheriff came up by mercy.

“ I am fulfilled that God showed his goodness from above. Oborevwori is making us proud. He is serving as governor of all Deltans. He has kept his promise.

“He showed good governance in all aspects you can think of today. He pledged to pay civil servants all their allowances and lived up to his words. Local government retirees have their pensions.

“ The governor is building roads and bridges, schools and markets around the state. He has completed different projects. Former president, Good luck Jonathan was in the state recently to inaugurate a massive High court building, completed by Oborevwori administration, which had been ongoing for several years.

“Remarkably the governor has achieved all these without borrowing a kobo”
Okwuofu stated.

She commended Delta women for their support to the Oborevwori administration all through the governorship campaigns and inauguration till date, assuring that their labour of love would be beneficial.

Chief Okwuofu also urged the youths to remain supportive and noted that governor Oborevwori deserved their total goodwill with the appointment of many youthful commissioners into the state executive council.
