Gov. Bindow presents N230.98bn budget proposal for 2019 fiscal year

Gov. Muhammadu Bindow of Adamawa on Tuesday presented a budget proposal of N230.98 billion for the 2019 fiscal year to the state House of Assembly.
Presenting the budget tagged: “Budget of Next Level’’, Bindow said it would consolidate on the gains of the 2018 budget on massive infrastructure development.
“Today, we are sustaining this progress and therefore, proposed the 2019 budget to the tune of N230,989 to finance both recurrent and capital development programme.
“The breakdown is as follows, recurrent expenditure is N103,495, representing 45 per cent, while the capital expenditure is N127,494, representing 55 per cent of the total budget,’’ he said.
He explained that the budget was second of its kind in the history of the state with 55 per cent of the proposed budget allocated to capital expenditure. .
The governor expressed gratitude for the support and cooperation between the executive and legislative arms in the state.
In his remarks, Speaker of the House, Alhaji Kabiru Mijinyawa assured the governor of speedy passage of the budget.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that before leaving the House, the governor witnessed the second reading of the budget by the House following a motion moved by the Majority Leader, Mr Hassan Barguma. (NAN)
