GOVERNOR Mai Mala-Buni of Yobe has commiserated with Katsina State Government and family of late Malam Wada Maida, former Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Maida, Chairman, Board of Directors of NAN, died on Monday in Abuja at the age of 70.
Mala-Buni, in a statement issued on Tuesday in Damaturu by Mamman Mohammed, Director-General, Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, also commiserated with the members of staff of NAN.
“Nigerian media industry has lost a media colossus who contributed immeasurably to the development of journalism.
“The likes of late Maida gave the industry huge support through his belief, practice, and investments in the media sector,” he said.
The governor said Maida, a native of Katsina State, will be remembered for his love for the media and consistent preaching of truth and objectivity as a guiding principle for journalism.
Mala-Buni prayed God to repose his soul in Aljannatur Firdaus and grant the family, NAN and the state government, the fortitude to bear the loss. (NAN)
