Gov. Sule mourns wife of Ohimege Opanda, Abdullahi

GOV. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has attended the funeral prayer of late Hajiya Maimuna Abdullahi, a former permanent secretary in the state and wife of Ohimege Opanda, Umaisha, Alhaji Usman Abdullahi.

The funeral prayer of the wife of the first class traditional ruler took place at the Emir’s Palace in Keffi, Keffi Local Government Area, of the state on Thursday.

 Sule condoled with the first class traditional ruler and the entire Umaisha community over the demise of their mother.

The governor, who eulogised her good virtues, said the vacuum created by her demise would be difficult to fill.

 Sule urged the husband and the entire kingdom to see her death as the will of God and continue to pray for the repose of her soul.

The governor prayed God to forgive her shortcomings and grant her eternal rest.

Earlier, the Chief Imam of Umaisha, who is the Khadi, Shariah Court of Appeal, Lafia, Justice Muhammed Usman, led the funeral prayer.

The cleric also prayed God to forgive her infractions and grant her Aljannatul Firdaus.

The chief imam called on people to always amend their ways with God as death is inevitable and can come at anytime.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mrs Abdullahi died in the late hours of Wednesday (Aug. 30) after a brief illness in Keffi.

She is survived by many children, grand children and her husband, Alhaji Usman Abdullahi, the Ohimege Opanda, Umaisha.

Meanwhile, the Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, has described her demise as a big blow and colossal death not only to Opanda Kingdom of Toto LGA, but the state at large.

This is contained in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Jibrin Gwamna, and made available to newsmen in Lafia on Thursday.

The speaker described her death as one death too many to bear.

“Allahu Akbar, this is shocking, very shocking, from Allah we all came and shall all return! What can we say, Hajiya was a bridge for all of us, a big vacuum has been created,” he mourned.

The speaker urged the first class traditional ruler to take solace in God. (NAN)
