The agreement was signed during the Anambra State Executive Council Meeting, at the Government House, Awka.

According to the agreement, the first phase of the MoU will cover the construction of 2 by 60 MVA with 132/33 KV line at Oba (Ojoto), 2 by 60 MVA substation at Nnewi, then 60 MVA with 132/33 KV line at Onitsha.

“All these will have duration of 18 months completion,’’ Obiano said.

Gov. Obiano re-assured that the projects when completed would boost the state’s effort at assuring uninterrupted electricity power supply.

The governor observed that steady power generation is sine-qua-non to any meaningful development, as such will encourage foreign and local investments.

He solicited the support of affected communities, as it would solve the epileptic power supply and boost commercial activities within their areas.

The Commissioner for Public Utilities, Emeka Ezenwanne, said the provision of the transmission infrastructure would strengthen the commercial activities in the state.

The General Manager, Engineering of the TCN, Geoffrey Nwokoye, said that the first phase of the project had been awarded, assuring that there would be timely delivery of the project.

While describing the collaboration as reliable, the Chairman of the State Power Committee, Chike Okonkwo, said that the project would ensure that some parts of the state without power infrastructure would be accommodated.
