Government receives Anambra State Compendium

THE Anambra State Government has been presented a copy of Anambra State Compendium from the publisher, Emeka Okonkwo.

The event took place in the office of the Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, Indigenous Artworks, Culture and Tourism, office at Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka.

Receiving the copy on behalf of Government, the Commissioner, Kenneth Anierobi, said that he anchored his plans on the vision and mission statement of the state government so as to make the state the best environment for investment, especially for our Ndi Anambra in The Diaspora.

“This compendium is a compilation of information that we need to put out there for people to know what is possible and available in Anambra State.

“We are happy that we have the opportunity to receive it,’’ he said.

Emeka Okonkwo, Managing Director, Great Source Investment Nigeria Ltd., noted that the compendium is a photo prose with comprehensive documentations on Anambra.

Okonkwo also a trained Linguist and professional book editor emphasized that the compendium contains Anambra State’s political history and its dynamic people.

“Anambra’s outstanding rich culture and traditional institutions, centuries of contacts with western civilisation, great milestones in religion and education, captivating natural endowments and tourist sites.

“There are rich evidence of undisputed leadership in commerce, industry, entrepreneurship and transportation in Nigeria.

“Even, the insight written by a former Head of State, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida on why he created Anambra is also captured in the compendium.

“I deem it fit to say that the compendium has come home to the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs because it is the right avenue to sell Anambra to the rest of the world,’’ he said.

He commended Gov. Willie Obiano for appointing the commissioner noting that he had placed a round peg in a round hole.
