Governor elect assures Yobe women on appointments, empowerment

MAIMALA Buni, the Yobe governor elect, has assured women in the state of political appointments and economic empowerment to improve their living condition.

He stated this on Wednesday when he received women groups led by Hajiya Ladi Jibrin, women leader of the state chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) on a congratulatory visit in Damaturu.

Buni commended the women for their massive turn out during the presidential and governorship elections.

The Governor-elect also assured that his administration would consolidate and expand on the achievements of Gov. Ibrahim Gaidam’s led administration towards improving the lives of the people

“We will lay emphasis on education, healthcare, road construction, agriculture, women and youth empowerment.

“Government will continue with the programme on free drugs for pregnant women and children below the age of five,” Buni assured.

He said there are plans for massive empowerment of widows especially those who lost their husbands due to Boko Haram insurgency. Speaking, Jibrin, thanked Buni for the reception.(NAN)
