Southfield Children Academy and College, Shomolu, Lagos, graduated 45 pupils and students at the end of 2012/2013 academic session

IT WAS graduation day for students of Southfield Children Academy and College, Shomolu, Lagos, July I8. Forty-five graduands from the school’s reception, nursery, primary and secondary school were presented for the occasion. The grand ceremony featured presentation of gifts and merit awards, dancing and drama.
Teachers were not left out. The school proprietress commended their teachers for the work well done for the academic session. In her welcome address, Chioma Dawodu, the school proprietress, thanked God for His grace, love, protection, guidance, direction and growth of the school’s inception in the past six years. “Our covenant with God is of life and not death, He has kept it. We have reasons to thank Him for our students, even those with health issues whom He has healed”. She referred specifically to sickle cell children who, “since their resumption with us” have never relapsed.
Zainab Agbomeji, one of the graduating students, said she felt very glad, honoured and proud to graduate from the junior secondary school. She said, it hasn’t been easy in the past three years but thanked God for making it a success. “This school is one of the best in this Shomolu, Bariga, area. It’s a school where any child can get the best education especially in the two basic subjects, mathematics and English language. Its environment is very conducive to learning and I’m very happy to be an alumnus of this great school,” Agbomeji said. The graduating pupils and their parents also expressed their joy and appreciation to the school.
The event was graced by Timothy Agboola, chief executive officer, Float Nigeria Limited; Austin Yahaya, chief of admin staff, Nigerian Navy Defence Headquarters, Abuja; Babs Egbedina, admiral superintendent, Naval Ordinance Depot, Navy town, Ojo Lagos; Bolaji Orederu and wife, deputy general manager, planning, Naval Dockyard, Victoria Island; Dayo Babatunde, Financial Services Sector Leader for West Africa; Ernst and Young, G.M Okafi, ex-rector, Yaba College of Technology and Gbolohan Timson, Jagunmolu III, traditional ruler of Shomolu, Bariga, Lagos.
