Born on January 19, 1967, Dr. Osuoza not only brings a wealth of academic and administrative experience to the table but also embodies a self-starter attitude, dynamic leadership, proactive nature and a highly personable demeanour.
With a Ph.D. in Strategic Studies from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Dr. Osuoza is well-equipped to lead the Ministry of Information toward a new era characterized by transparency, equity and media development.
Having worked closely with Dr. Osuoza during the 2023 General Election Campaigns, I observed firsthand, his leadership qualities. As the Deputy Director Media and Publicity of the state campaign council alongside his role as the State Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he demonstrated a willingness to listen and implement suggestions when convinced of their merit.
Osuoza’s remarkable educational background and extensive administrative experience positions him as a stalwart leader for the Ministry of Information. Proficient in computer use and with roles in academia and various leadership positions, he reflects a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical acumen poised to benefit the state.
The Ministry, under his guidance, is expected to embrace cutting-edge technologies for more efficient information management.
Governor Oborevwori, lauding Ifeanyi Michael Osuoza during the inauguration, expressed high expectations for him to elevate the government’s information management machinery to new heights through creativity and innovation.
Governor Oborevwori envisions a shift in the Information Ministry’s role, extending beyond information dissemination to actively initiate and participate in positive citizen engagement and mobilization. He emphasized the need for stakeholder perception audits to be integral to the ministry’s operations, acting as a sensor to gather citizen input for shaping government policies.
Drawing from his illustrious track record, Osuoza is uniquely qualified to bridge the gap between the government and the media. His commitment to effective communication and information dissemination forms the bedrock for spearheading innovative initiatives that will redefine the relationship between the state and its media outlets.
Beyond his public service roles, Osuoza’s entrepreneurial background as the Chief Executive Officer of Tac Armouring Global Limited, adds another layer of depth to his leadership capabilities. His experience in developing corporate strategies and fostering business ventures is anticipated to be instrumental in driving innovative approaches within the Ministry of Information.
This diverse skill set ensures a holistic approach to information management that aligns with the complex and dynamic nature of the media landscape, and for the attainment of the M.O.R.E agenda of the Sheriff Oborevwori government.
The governor, recognizing Osuoza’s extensive experience in publicity, had specifically entrusted him with the task of elevating the information system to new heights.
His tenure therefore, is expected to be marked by a resolute commitment to ensuring equity in media relations, replacing historical neglect with a new era of fairness and equal opportunities for all media outlets.
Osuoza is called upon to envision a landscape where information dissemination is unbiased and inclusive, fostering an environment where every voice has the chance to be heard.
Speaking with journalists after his swearing-in ceremony, Osuoza highlighted the pivotal role of effective media management in advancing the state’s goals.
Assuring journalists and media practitioners in the state, Dr. Osuoza expressed optimism about a brighter future for media organizations, emphasizing the importance of their commitment to realizing the M.O.R.E agenda.
And for media organisations and journalists, the commissioner is urged to introduce a comprehensive media development agenda, collaborating with forums or associations of publishers, the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), editors, and other media forums. Together, they can cultivate an entrepreneurial focus within their ranks, encouraging journalists and media outlets to invest in ideas that promote economic growth and contribute to overall societal well-being.
This strategic approach will be aimed at elevating the media landscape in Delta State, transforming it into a catalyst for positive change.
Stepping into the role of Commissioner for Information in Delta State, Ifeanyi Osuoza holds the key to reshaping the narrative of information dissemination and media development.
By prioritizing equity, collaboration and an entrepreneurial focus, he has the potential to guide the state into a new era marked by transparent and dynamic communication.
Osuoza’s self-starter attitude, dynamic leadership style, and unwavering commitment to integrity, defines him as the catalyst for progress, inclusivity, and positive transformation within the Ministry of Information.
The expectations are high and the hopes are that his tenure will be characterized by tangible progress that benefits the media constituency in particular and the people of Delta State at large.
