Group canvasses for Omole as Foreign Affairs Minister

THE Diaspora Professionals for Asiwaju (DPA) have canvassed for the appointment of Mr Ade Omole as the next Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Omole is the Director, Diaspora Directorate, All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).

They described the move as part of policies that the county needed of putting round pegs in rounds holes.

Mr Olatunji Adeyemo, convener of the group said this while speaking with newsmen on Monday in Abuja.

He added that Omole had paid his dues in the APC, Nigerian Diaspora community and on the global stage

He further added that Omole is an experienced diplomat and administrator of resources with executive experience in varying fields spanning management roles.

He said that roles span Hewlett Packard, JP Morgan Investment Bank, Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and Credit Suisse Bank among others.

Adeyemo recalled that ahead of the Feb. 25, presidential election, Omole travelled the world to campaign for Sen. Bola Tinubu, the president-elect, because of his good rapport with the international community.

He added that Omole liaised with Members of Parliament and congresspersons across the board and had a good relationship with Nigerians abroad, having been a worthy ambassador for Nigeria over the years.

He said Omole was professionally and educationally qualified with a Masters’ Degree in Law specialising in conflict resolution and a Masters’ degree in IT.

He added that with a chain of other degrees and certifications, Omole had been involved in leading strategic development assignments, international transition projects and public sector-focused project solutions.

He described him as a visionary and goal-oriented techie-savvy executive with demonstrable experience in diplomacy, planning, developing and implementing cutting-edge bespoke initiatives to address governmental and business issues.

Adeyemo added that recognised as one of Nigeria’s Diaspora Icons by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) in 2022, Omole was adept in crisis management and in delivering value-based programmes.

He noted that Omole had been an APC leader for years in the Diaspora and had headed and been part of several APC committees, and was a founding leader of the party in the Diaspora.

“He was a member of APC 2019 Presidential Campaign Council, Diaspora Directorate and APC 2019 Presidential Campaign Council, Communications Directorate.

“He was also the coordinator, of Diaspora United Kingdom 2019 for President Muhammadu Buhari Presidential Support Committee and Assistant Secretary, APC 2022 Accreditation of Volunteers, Diplomats and Diaspora, Observers among others.

“Professionally, Omole is a United Kingdom Defence Ministry NSV-certified Senior Consultant with over 30 years of experience in the International Project Management Industry.

“Having Omole as the country’s next Foreign Affairs Minister will be a round peg in a round hole,” he said.

Adeyemo expressed optimism that the President-elect would assemble an inclusive power-packed cabinet to hit the ground running once he was sworn in on May 29.

He said in line with Tinubu’s antecedents, he would pick the very best from within and outside the country to form his cabinet.

“He did the same in the past in Lagos State when he was Governor of the state for two-terms by assembling technocrats and the best brains to form his cabinet irrespective of tribe, religion and other sentiments,” he said.

Adeyemo advised that loyal and dedicated party members within and outside the country should be considered in every political appointments.
