THE Andoni/Opobo/Nkoro Journalists Forum in Rivers, has described the kidnap of Channels Television reporter, Mr Joshua Rogers as ‘wicked and condemnable.’

The President, Mr Philip Owajioboro said this in a statement made available to newsmen in Port Harcourt on Friday.

He said that the forum, a subgroup under the Rivers council of the Nigeria Union of Journalist, received the news of Rogers’ kidnap with a rude shock.

”We heard that he was intercepted and abducted near his resident at the Rumuosi area of Port Harcourt.

”This act is inhuman and barbaric. It is a threat to journalism practice in the state and the country in general.

”We call on the police and other security agencies to ensure an unconditional release of Joshua Rogers,” he said.

NAN reports that the police command in Rivers has already confirmed Rogers’ kidnap, saying that he was abducted in the late hours of Thursday.

The Spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, told newsmen that the force was collaborating with other security agencies to secure his early release.

”We are aware of Rogers’ abduction and efforts are already underway to secure his release,” she said.(NAN)
