THE Progressive Students Movement (PSM), a Pan-African Socialist Movement, has congratulated Sen. Ahmed Lawan and Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege for emerging the Senate President and Deputy Senate President.
PSM also congratulated all newly sworn-in legislators at the Federal level in the 9th National Assembly.
The President of PSM in Nigeria, Mr Bestman Okereafor, made this known while speaking with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Tuesday.
“The leadership of PSM wishes to congratulate all newly sworn-in legislators at the federal level.
“Significantly, we wish to felicitate with the Senator Representing Yobe North Constituency, Sen. Ahmed Lawan, over his emergence as the President of the Senate in the 9th National Assembly,’’ Okereafor said.
He called on the new senate leadership and lawmakers to pass bills that would impact positively on the lives of Nigerians.
“We are calling on the senate under the watch of Sen. Lawan to cooperate with the executive arm led by his Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, for the betterment of Nigerians.
“They should not frustrate the executive arm of government as in the 8th National Assembly with issues such as budget padding which caused delay in approving the budget at the expense of Nigerians,’’ Okereafor added. (NAN)
